Connecting to Eduroam (macOS)

Follow the steps below to connect your macOS device to UVA’s Eduroam wireless network.


1. Connect to the UVA WiFi Setup Network

  • Make sure your Mac is connected to the UVA WiFi Setup network.

  • You must use Safari as your default browser during the setup process.


2. Set Safari as Your Default Browser

  • Launch Safari.

  • In the menu bar, go to Safari > Settings.

  • Under the General tab, click “Set Default”.

    • (You can change your default browser back after setup is complete.)


3. Launch the Setup Portal


4. Download and Run the Setup Tool

  • A disk image named “UVA-NetworkSetupTool-Standard” will download.

  • Open the disk image, then double-click to run the NetworkSetupTool-Standard app.

  • When prompted, click Open to confirm running an app downloaded from the Internet.



5. Authenticate and Approve Changes

  • Sign in with your UVA Computing ID and password using Option 2 (NetBadge) when prompted.

  • When the SecureW2 JoinNow client asks to make changes, enter your Mac password and click OK.




6. Install the Configuration Profile

  • A notification will appear stating that a configuration profile has been downloaded. Click OK.

  • Double-click the downloaded profile.

  • Click Install.

  • When prompted again, click Install to confirm.

  • If prompted by Device Management (MDM), enter your Mac password and click OK.




7. Complete the Setup

  • After installation, the SecureW2 JoinNow client will confirm the device has successfully joined the eduroam network.

  • Click Done to complete the process.
